Verse : 223

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Who give ear, and most of them are liars.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They give ear to hear (secretly,) and most of them tell lies.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.

Verse : 224

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : As for the poets -it is the seduced who follow them.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : As for the poets, the erring ones follow them,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : As for the poets, they are followed by the straying people.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : As for poets, the erring follow them.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And the Poets― it is those straying in Evil, who follow them:

Verse : 225

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Observest thou not, that they Wander about every vale.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : See you not that they speak about every subject (praising people – right or wrong) in their poetry?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Did you not see that they wander in every valley,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?―

Verse : 226

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that they say that which they do not?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that they say what they do not do.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that they say what they do not?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And how they say that which they do not?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And that they say what they practise not?―

Verse : 227

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh — Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allâh much and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged [by replying back in the poetry to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims)]. And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah very much, and defend themselves after they are wronged. And the wrongdoers will soon know to which place they are going to return.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!
