Verse : 001

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the angels ranged in ranks.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : I swear) by those who stand in rows,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By those who set the ranks in battle order
Eng-Yusuf Ali : By those who range themselves in ranks.

Verse : 002

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the angels driving away.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then by those who prevent firmly
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And so are strong in repelling (evil),

Verse : 003

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the angels reciting the praise.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Qur’ân from Allâh to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathîr].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then by those who recite the dhikr,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And those who read (the Word) for a reminder,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)!

Verse : 004

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily your God is One.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily your Ilâh (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allâh);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely your God is but One,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! thy Lord is surely One;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily, verily, your Allah is One!―

Verse : 005

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun’s risings.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the points of sunrise.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun’s risings.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all between them and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!

Verse : 006

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment: the stars.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty).[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Verily, We have decorated the nearest sky with an adornment, the stars,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars―

Verse : 007

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And have placed therein a guard against any Satan froward.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And to guard against every rebellious devil.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (have made them) a security against every rebellious devil.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : With security from every froward devil.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits.

Verse : 008

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They cannot listen to the exalted assembly, and they are darted at from every side.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They cannot listen to the Upper Realm and are hit from every side
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly and they are cast away from every side.

Verse : 009

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual;
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : To be driven off, and for them there is a lasting punishment;
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty.

Verse : 010

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Except him who snatcheth away a word by stealth, and him then pursueth a glowing flame.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : However, if one snatches a little bit, he is pursued by a bright flame.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming Fire, of piercing brightness.

Verse : 011

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Ask them thou: are they stronger in structure or those others whom We have created? Verily We! We have created them of a sticky clay.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): “Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains) whom We have created?” Verily, We created them of a sticky clay.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Now ask them, “Are they stronger in the formation of their bodies, or those (other beings) that We have created?” Certainly, We did create them from sticky clay.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!

Verse : 012

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Qur’ân).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But you wonder (at their denial), and they mock (at the idea of an Hereafter).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly dost thou marvel while they ridicule

Verse : 013

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when they are admonished, they receive not admcnition.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when they are reminded, they pay no attention.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when any advice is given to them, they pay no heed to it.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And heed not when they are reminded,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And, when they are admonished, pay no heed―

Verse : 014

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when they see an Ayâh (a sign, a proof, or an evidence) from Allâh, they mock at it.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when they see a sign, they make fun of it,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And seek to scoff when they behold a portent.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,

Verse : 015

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they say: this Quran is naught but magic manifest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they say: “This is nothing but evident magic!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And say, “This is nothing but an open magic.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they say: Lo! this is mere magic;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And say “This is nothing but evident sorcery!

Verse : 016

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When we have become dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then verily be raised?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it when we have died and become dust and bones, that we shall be raised again,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)?

Verse : 017

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And also our forefathers?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “And also our fathers of old?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And even our fathers of aforetime?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And our forefathers?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “And also our fathers of old?”

Verse : 018

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Yes, and you shall then be humiliated.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Say, “Yes, and you shall be disgraced (too)!”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Say (O Muhammad): Yea, in truth; and ye will be brought low.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Say thou: “Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil).”

Verse : 019

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : It shall be but one shout, lo! they shall be staring.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, it will be only a single castigating call, and all of a sudden they will begin to see.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!

Verse : 020

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they will say: Ah! woe be Unto us! this is the Day of Requital.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They will say: “Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And they will be saying, “Woe to us; this is the Day of Retribution.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They will say “Ah! woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement!”

Verse : 021

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : This is the Day of Judgment which ye were wont to belie.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (It will be said): “This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It will be said to them,) “This is the Day of Judgment that you used to deny.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (A voice will say) “This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!”

Verse : 022

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : It will be said to the angels): “Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It will be said to the angels,) “Muster all those who were unjust, and their fellows, and whatever they used to worship
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship
Eng-Yusuf Ali : -Bring ye up” it shall be said “The wrongdoers and their wives, and the things they worshipped―

Verse : 023

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Instead of Allâh, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Other than Allah, and show them the way to Jahannam ,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!

Verse : 024

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And stop them; verily they are to be questioned:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “But stop them, verily they are to be questioned.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And stop them (for a while,) for they are to be asked some questions.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And stop them, for they must be questioned.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “But stop them, for they must be asked:

Verse : 025

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : What aileth you that ye succour not one another?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they will be asked, “What is wrong with you that you do not help each other?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : What aileth you that ye help not one another?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : ” `What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?’ “

Verse : 026

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay, but that Day they shall surrender,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : On the contrary, that day all of them will have totally surrendered.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but this Day they make full submission.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);

Verse : 027

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they will turn to one another and question one another.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And some of them (the followers of their chiefs) will turn to others (the chiefs), asking questions from one another.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And they will turn to one another, and question one another.

Verse : 028

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come Unto us Imposing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They will say: “It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, enjoin on us polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and from every good deed].”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They (the followers) will say, “You were the ones who used to come to (mislead) us forcefully.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They will say: “It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!”

Verse : 029

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They will reply: “Nay, you yourselves were not believers.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They (the chiefs) will say, “On the contrary, you yourselves were not believers.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They will reply: “Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!

Verse : 030

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were Taghun (transgressing) people (polytheists, and disbelievers).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We had no authority over you at all, but you yourselves were a transgressing people.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!

Verse : 031

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, the word of our Lord has come true against us. Indeed, we have to taste (the punishment).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “So now has been proved true, against us, the Word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins):

Verse : 032

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We did misguide you, (because) we were ourselves erroneous”.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray.”

Verse : 033

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, that day, they will share each other in punishment.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then lo! this Day they (both) are sharers in the doom.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.

Verse : 034

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Certainly, that is how We deal with Al¬Mujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, disbelivers, criminals, the disobedient to Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This is how We deal with the criminals.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! thus deal We with the guilty.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.

Verse : 035

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily when it was said Unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Truly, when it was said to them: Lâ ilâha illallâh “(none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh),” they puffed themselves up with pride[] (i.e. denied it).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They were those to whom when it was said: “There is no god but Allah”, they waxed proud,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : For when it was said unto them, There is no god save Allah, they were scornful
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride.

Verse : 036

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a Poet distracted?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And (they) said: “Are we going to abandon our âlihah (gods) for the sake of a mad poet?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And used to say, “Are we really to leave our gods because of an insane poet?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And say: “What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?”

Verse : 037

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allâh’s religion – Islâmic Monotheism and this Qur’ân) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allâh’s religion – Islâmic Monotheism).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : No, he has come with Truth and has confirmed all the messengers (of Allah).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay! He has come with the (very) Truth and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before Him).

Verse : 038

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely you have to taste the painful punishment,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom –
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty―

Verse : 039

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing;
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allâh’s disobedience which you used to do in this world);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And you will be recompensed for nothing but for what you used to do
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Ye are requited naught save what ye did –
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought

Verse : 040

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones –
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Save the chosen slaves of Allâh (i.e. the true believers of Islâmic Monotheism).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Unlike Allah’s chosen servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save single-minded slaves of Allah;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But the sincere (and devoted) servants of Allah―

Verse : 041

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Those! theirs shall be a provision known:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Those are the people for whom there is a known provision,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : For them there is a known provision,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For them is a Sustenance Determined

Verse : 042

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Fruits! And they shall be honoured.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Fruits; and they shall be honoured,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The fruits; and they will be honored
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Fruits. And they will be honoured
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Fruits (Delights), and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity.

Verse : 043

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : In Gardens of Delight.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : In the Gardens of delight (Paradise),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In Gardens of Bliss
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : In the Gardens of delight,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : In Gardens of Felicity.

Verse : 044

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : On couches, facing one another.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Facing one another on thrones,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Facing each other on couches.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : On couches facing one another;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Facing each other on Thrones (of dignity):

Verse : 045

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Round shall be passed a cup Unto them filled with limpid drink:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine,—
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They will be served with a cup from a flowing drink,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain―

Verse : 046

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : White, a pleasure Unto the drinkers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : White, delicious to the drinkers,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That will be) white (and) delicious for those who drink.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : White, delicious to the drinkers,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Crystal-white of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),

Verse : 047

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith Inebriated.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Neither will they have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : There will be no headache therein, nor will they be intoxicated with it,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.

Verse : 048

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And beside them will be Qâsirât-at-Tarf [chaste females (wives), restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands)], with wide and beautiful eyes.[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And by their side there will be females restricting their gazes (to their husbands), having pretty big eyes,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And beside them will be chaste women; restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).

Verse : 049

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : As though they were eggs hidden.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : As if they were eggs hidden (under feathers, protected from pollution).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded.

Verse : 050

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then they will advance Unto each other, mutually questioning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they will turn to each other asking questions mutually.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then they will turn to one another and question one another.

Verse : 051

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was Unto me a mate.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : A speaker of them will say: “Verily, I had a companion (in the world),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : A speaker from them will say, “I had a companion (in the worldly life)
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade
Eng-Yusuf Ali : One of them will start the talk and say: “I had an intimate companion (on the earth)

Verse : 052

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Who used to say: “Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Who used to say (to me), “Are you one of those who believe?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Who used to say `What! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the truth (of the Message)?

Verse : 053

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it when we have died and become dust and bones? Is it true that we are going to be recompensed (for our deeds)?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones – can we (then) verily be brought to book?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : ” `When we die and become dust and bones shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?’ “

Verse : 054

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Allah will say: will ye look down?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (The speaker) said: “Will you look down?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He (the speaker) will say (to other people in Paradise) “Would you like to have a look (at Jahannam to find out what happened to that companion of mine)?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He saith: Will ye look?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (A voice) said: “Would ye like to look down?”

Verse : 055

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So he will look and will see him in the middle of Jahannam.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

Verse : 056

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He said: “By Allâh! You have nearly ruined me.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He (the speaker) will say (to his companion seen in Jahannam ), “By Allah, you were going almost to ruin me.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He said: “By Allah! Thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!

Verse : 057

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And but for the favourcf my lord, I should have been of those brought forward.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell).”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But for the favor of my Lord, I would have been among those produced for punishment.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!

Verse : 058

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Are we not then to die
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (The dwellers of Paradise will say): “Are we then not to die (any more)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then the speaker will address other people of Paradise in delight and wonder, saying,) “Are we not then to die anymore
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Are we then not to die
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Is it (the case) that we shall not die

Verse : 059

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise).”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Beyond our first death, nor are we going to be punished?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?”

Verse : 060

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily this! that is the supreme achievement.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Truly, this is the supreme success!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This is, indeed, the great achievement.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! this is the supreme triumph.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily this is the supreme achievement!

Verse : 061

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : For the like of this, then, let the workers work.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : For the like of this let the workers work.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : For this kind (of achievement), all workers must work.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : For the like of this, then, let the workers work.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive.

Verse : 062

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqûm (a horrible tree in Hell)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is that (blissful Paradise) better for hospitality or the tree of zaqqum ?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?

Verse : 063

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Truly We have made it (as) a trial for the Zâlimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We have made it a test for the unjust.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrongdoers.

Verse : 064

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It is a tree that comes forth in the bottom of Jahannam.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell Fire:

Verse : 065

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayâtin (devils);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Its fruits are like the heads of devils.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Its crop is as it were the heads of devils
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:

Verse : 066

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, they have to eat from it and have to fill their bellies with it.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.

Verse : 067

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of balling water.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqûm in their bellies).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they will have, on top of it, a mixture made of boiling water.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.

Verse : 068

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And thereafter verily their return is Unto the Flaming Fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, their final return is to the Fire.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.

Verse : 069

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily they found their fathers gone astray.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They found their fathers on the wrong path.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They indeed found their fathers astray,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;

Verse : 070

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So they in their footsteps are rushing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So they (too) hastened in their footsteps!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, they used to run in their footsteps.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!

Verse : 071

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Most of the earlier ones (too) had gone astray before them.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily most of the men of old went astray before them,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray―

Verse : 072

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We sent among them warners.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We did send warners among them.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily We sent among them warners.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them―

Verse : 073

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So look, how was the end of those warned –
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not)―

Verse : 074

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Save the bondmen of Allah sincere.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except the chosen slaves of Allâh (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islâmic Monotheism).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except Allah’s chosen servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except the sincere (and devoted) servants of Allah.

Verse : 075

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly Nuh cried Unto us; and We are the Best of answerers!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed Nûh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Nuh did call Us (for help after he was disappointed with his people), so (We accepted his prayer, as) We are the best to respond.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the Best to hear prayer.

Verse : 076

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We delivered him and his people from the great affliction.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We delivered him and his family from the great agony,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We saved him and his household from the great distress,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity.

Verse : 077

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And his offspring! them We made the survivors.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And made his progeny the sole survivors (from the Deluge).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And made his seed the survivors,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And made his progeny to endure (on this earth);

Verse : 078

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We left for him among the posterity.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations:
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left for him (a word of praise) among the later people, (that is):
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times:

Verse : 079

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Peace be on Nuh among the worlds.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Salâm (peace) be upon Nûh (Noah) (from Us) among the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Salam be on Nuh among (the people of) all the worlds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Peace be unto Noah among the peoples!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!”

Verse : 080

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers – see V.2:112).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Certainly, this is how We reward those who are good in their deeds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! thus do We reward the good.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

Verse : 081

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he was of Our bondmen believing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he [Nûh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He was one of Our believing servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For he was one of Our believing Servants.

Verse : 082

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then We drowned the others.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then We drowned the others (disbelievers and polytheists).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, we drowned others.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then We did drown the others.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then the rest We overwhelmed in the Flood.

Verse : 083

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily of his sect was Ibrahim.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, verily, among those who followed his [Nûh’s (Noah)] way (Islâmic Monotheism) was Ibrâhim (Abraham).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And certainly one of his adherents was Ibrahim.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham.

Verse : 084

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Recall what time he came Unto his lord with a heart whole.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allâh Alone – and none else, worshipping none but Allâh Alone true Islâmic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Remember) when he came to his Lord with a pure heart,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold, He approached his Lord with a sound heart.

Verse : 085

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Recall what time he said Unto his father and his people: What is it that ye worship?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When he said to his father and to his people: “What is it that which you worship?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When he said to his father and his people, “What is that which you worship?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold, he said to his father and to his people “What is that which ye worship?

Verse : 086

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah – that ye desire?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Is it a falsehood âlihah (gods) other than Allâh that you desire?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Do you wish (to have) fallacious gods other than Allah?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Is it a falsehood – gods beside Allah – that ye desire?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Is it a Falsehood― gods other than Allah that ye desire?

Verse : 087

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : what, then, is your opinion of the Lord of the worlds?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Then what think you about the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinn, and all that exists)?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, what do you think about the Lord of the worlds?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Then what is your idea about the Lord of the Worlds?”

Verse : 088

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he glanced a glance on the stars.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he cast a glance at the stars,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, he cast a look at the stars,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And he glanced a glance at the stars
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then did he cast a glance at the stars.

Verse : 089

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he said: verily I am about to be sick.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And he said: “Verily, I am sick (with plague). [He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan feast].”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And then said, “I feel indisposed”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then said: Lo! I feel sick!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And he said “I am indeed sick (at heart)!”

Verse : 090

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So they departed from him turning their backs.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So they went away from him, turning their backs.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they turned their backs and went away from him.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So they turned away from him, and departed.

Verse : 091

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he slipped Unto their gods and said: eat ye not
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he turned to their âlihah (gods) and said: “Will you not eat (of the offering before you)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And he made his way to their ‘gods’ and said to them, “Why would you not eat?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then did he turn to their gods and said “Will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?…

Verse : 092

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : What aileth ye that ye speak not?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “What is the matter with you that you speak not?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : What is wrong with you that you do not speak?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : What aileth you that ye speak not?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?”

Verse : 093

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he slipped Unto them striking them with the right hand.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then he attacked them striking with his right hand.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.

Verse : 094

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then they advanced toward him, hastening.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, they (the idolaters) came to him rushing.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And (his people) came toward him, hastening.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).

Verse : 095

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : He said: worship ye that which carve.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He said: “Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He said, “Do you worship what is carved by yourselves,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He said: “Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved?

Verse : 096

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “While Allâh has created you and what you make!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : While Allah has created you and what you make?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When Allah hath created you and what ye make?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “But Allah has created you and your handiwork!”

Verse : 097

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They said. build for him a building and cast him into the flaming fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They said: “Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They said, “Build for him a structure, and throw him into the blazing fire.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They said: “Build him a furnace, and throw him into the Blazing Fire!”

Verse : 098

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they devised a plot for him, but We made them the humble.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, they intended to bring harm to him, but We made them the lowest (by frustrating their plan).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (This failing), they then plotted against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!

Verse : 099

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he said: verily I am going to my Lord who will guide me.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And he said (after his rescue from the fire): “Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And he said, “I am going to my Lord. He will show me the way.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He said: “I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!

Verse : 100

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : O my Lord, bless me with a righteous son.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!”

Verse : 101

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, We gave him the good news of a forbearing boy.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So We gave him tidings of a gentle son.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.

Verse : 102

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when he attained the age of, running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: “O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allâh), so look what you think!” He said: “O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshâ’ Allâh (if Allâh will), you shall find me of As-Sâbirun (the patient).”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Thereafter, when he (the boy) reached an age in which he could work with him, he (Ibrahim) said, “O my little son, I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so consider, what is your opinion?” He said, “O my dear father, do what you have been ordered to do. You will find me, insha’allah , (if Allah wills) one of those who endure patiently.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: “O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: now see what is thy view!” (The son) said: “O my father! do as thou art commanded: thou will find me if Allah so wills one practicing Patience and Constancy!”

Verse : 103

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allâh), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, (it was a great episode) when both of them submitted themselves (to Allah’s will), and he laid him on his forehead (to slaughter him),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So when they had both submitted (to Allah), and He had laid Him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice)

Verse : 104

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : We cried Unto him: O Ibrahim
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We called out to him: “O Abraham!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And then We called out to him, “O Ibrahim,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : We called unto him: O Abraham!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : We called out to him “O Abraham!

Verse : 105

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : You have fulfilled the dream!” Verily! thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers – see V.2:112).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : You did make the dream come true.” This is how We reward those who are good in their deeds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Thou hast already fulfilled the dream!”― thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

Verse : 106

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily that! that was a trial manifest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This was indeed a trial that clearly demonstrated (their obedience).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! that verily was a clear test.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For this was obviously a trial―

Verse : 107

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We ransomed him with a mighty victim.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. کبش – a ram);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:

Verse : 108

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We left for him among the posterity:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left for him (a word of praise) among the later people,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:

Verse : 109

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Peace be Unto Ibrahim:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Salâmun (peace) be upon Ibrâhim (Abraham)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That is,) “Salam be on Ibrahim!
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Peace be unto Abraham!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Peace and salutation to Abraham!”

Verse : 110

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! thus We compense the well-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers – see V.2:112).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This is how We reward those who are good in their deeds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Thus do We reward the good.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

Verse : 111

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he was one of Our believing bondmen.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely, he is among Our believing servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For he was one of Our believing Servants.

Verse : 112

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We gave him the glad tidings of Is-haq, a prophet, and of the righteous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishâq (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We gave him the good news of Ishaq (Isaac), a prophet from among the righteous.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We gave him the good news of Isaac― a prophet― one of the Righteous.

Verse : 113

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We blessed him and Is-haq; and of their offspring are some well-doers and some who wrong themselves manifestly.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : We blessed him and Ishâq (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We did bless him, and Ishaq. And among the progeny of both of them, some are good and some are utterly unjust to their own selves.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.

Verse : 114

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We gave grace Unto Musa and Harun.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Certainly We bestowed favors upon Musa and Harun,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We verily gave grace unto Moses and Aaron,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron.

Verse : 115

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And delivered them and their people from the great affliction.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We saved them and their people from the great distress;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We delivered them and their people from the great agony,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And saved them and their people from the great distress,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;

Verse : 116

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We succoured them so that they became overcomers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And helped them, so that they became the victors;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We helped them, so they became victors,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And helped them so that they became the victors.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);

Verse : 117

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We vouchsafed Unto the twain a Book luminous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We gave them the clear Scripture;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We gave them the clear book,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We gave them the clear Scripture
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;

Verse : 118

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We led the twain on Unto the straight path.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And guided them to the Right Path;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And guided them to the straight path.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And showed them the right path.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We guided them to the Straight Way.

Verse : 119

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We left for the twain among the posterity:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among the generations;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left for them (a word of praise) among the later people,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We left for them among the later folk (the salutation):
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:

Verse : 120

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Peace be Unto Musa and Harun.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Salâm (peace) be upon Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That is,) Salam be on Musa and Harun!
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Peace be unto Moses and Aaron!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!”

Verse : 121

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers.

Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily! they were two of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely, both of them were among Our believing servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For they were two of Our believing Servants.

Verse : 123

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily, llyas was one of the sent ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, Iliyâs (Elias) was one of the Messengers
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And surely, Ilyas is one of the messengers.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! Elias was of those sent (to warn),
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So also was Elias among those sent (by us).

Verse : 124

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Recall what time he said Unto his people: fear ye not?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When he said to his people: “Will you not fear Allâh?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Remember) when he said to his people: “Do you not fear Allah?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off (evil)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold he said to his people “Will ye not fear (Allah)?

Verse : 125

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Call ye upon Bal and forsake the Best of creators.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Will you call upon Ba’l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Do you invoke Ba‘l, and ignore the Best of the creators,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Will ye cry unto Baal and forsake the best of creators,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators―

Verse : 126

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Allâh, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That is, Allah who is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?”

Verse : 127

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then they belied him, so verily they are to be brought up.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But they denied him [Iliyâs (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they rejected him. Therefore, they will be arraigned –
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But they denied him, so they surely will be haled forth (to the doom)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But they rejected him and they will certainly be called up (for punishment)―

Verse : 128

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Except the bondmen of Allah sincere.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except the chosen slaves of Allâh.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except Allah’s chosen servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them).

Verse : 129

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We left for him among the posterity:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations (to come) in later times;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left for him (a word of praise) among the later people,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And we left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:

Verse : 130

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Peace be Unto Elyasin.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Salâm (peace) be upon Ilyâsîn (Elias)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That is,) “Salam on Ilyasin (Ilyas).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Peace be unto Elias!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Peace and salutation to such as Elias!”

Verse : 131

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allâh’s sake only – see V.2:112)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This is how We reward those who are good in their deeds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! thus do We reward the good.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

Verse : 132

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely, he was from among Our believing servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! he is one of our believing slaves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For He was one of Our believing Servants.

Verse : 133

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily Lut was of the sent ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, Lut (Lot) was one of the Messengers
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And surely, Lut is one of the messengers.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! Lot verily was of those sent (to warn).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So also was Lut among those sent (by us).

Verse : 134

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Recall what time We delivered him and his household, all.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When We saved him and his family, all,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Remember) when We saved him and his family, all of them,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When We saved him and his household, every one,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all

Verse : 135

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Save an old woman among the lingerers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except an old woman among those remaining behind.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save an old woman among those who stayed behind;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind:

Verse : 136

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then We annihilated the others.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the town of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea now in Palestine].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : After that, We destroyed others
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then We destroyed the others.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then We destroyed the rest.

Verse : 137

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And surely ye pass by them in the morning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, you pass by them in the morning.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And you do pass by them at daybreak
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! ye verily pass by (the ruin of) them in the morning
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day―

Verse : 138

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And at night; will you not then reflect?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And by nightfall. Would you still not understand?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And at night-time; have ye then no sense?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And by night: will ye not understand?

Verse : 139

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily Yunus was Of the sent ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, verily, Yûnus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And surely, Yunus (Jonah) is from among the messengers.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So also was Jonah among those sent (by us).

Verse : 140

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Recall what time he ran away Unto a laden ship.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When he ran to the laden ship,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Remember) when he ran away towards the boat that was already loaded.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When he fled unto the laden ship,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : When he ran away (like slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden

Verse : 141

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then he participated in drawing lots (to offload one of the passengers) and was the one who was defeated.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And then drew lots and was of those rejected;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:

Verse : 142

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then a (big) fish swallowed as and he had done an act worthy of blame.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then the fish swallowed him while he was reproaching his own self.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.

Verse : 143

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And had he not been of those who hallow Him,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Had he not been of them who glorify Allâh,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Had he not been of those who proclaim Allah’s purity,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,

Verse : 144

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He would have definitely lived in its belly till the day when the dead will be raised.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection.

Verse : 145

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then We cast him ashore in the open while he was ill,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But We cast him forth, on the naked shore in a state of sickness

Verse : 146

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We caused a tree of ourds to grow over him.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We caused to grow, over him a spreading plant of the Gourd kind

Verse : 147

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We had sent him (as messenger) to one hundred thousand, or more.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.

Verse : 148

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, they believed, then, We let them enjoy for a time.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.

Verse : 149

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Now ask thou them: there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): “Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So ask them, “Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Now ask them their opinion: is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?

Verse : 150

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Or did We create the angels female while they were witnesses?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Or, had We created angels as females while they were witnessing?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Or created We the angels females while they were present?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?

Verse : 151

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say:
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Beware! They are the ones who, by way of a lie of theirs, (have the audacity to) say,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say:
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Is it not that they say from their own invention

Verse : 152

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Allâh has begotten (off spring the angels being the daughters of Allâh)?” And, verily, they are liars!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Allah has children” – and they are absolute liars.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Allah has begotten children”? But they are liars!

Verse : 153

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hath He chosen daughters above sons?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it that Allah has chosen daughters (for Himself) instead of sons?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?

Verse : 154

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : What aileth you? How judge ye?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : What is the matter with you? How do you decide?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : What is the matter with you? How (arbitrarily) do you judge?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : What aileth you? How judge ye?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : What is the matter with you? How judge ye?

Verse : 155

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Will ye not then be admonished?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Will you not then remember?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then, is it that you do not think about it?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Will ye not then reflect?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Will ye not then receive admonition?

Verse : 156

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Or, is there for you a clear warranty
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Or is there for you a plain authority?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Or, is it that there is some open authority with you?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Or have ye a clear warrant?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Or have ye an authority manifest?

Verse : 157

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then bring your book, if ye say sooth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then bring your Book if you are truthful!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then bring your book, if you are truthful.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!

Verse : 158

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they have made a kinship between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinn, but the jinn know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for account).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And they have made up between Him (Allah) and the Jinns some kinship, while the Jinns already know that they are bound to be seized.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before His judgment-seat)!

Verse : 159

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Glorified is Allâh! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Pure is Allah from what they describe
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him),
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!

Verse : 160

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Except the bondmen of Allah sincere.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except the slaves of Allâh, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islâmic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except Allah’s chosen servants.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Not (so do) the servants of Allah, sincere and devoted.

Verse : 161

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, you and those whom you worship,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship―

Verse : 162

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allâh) anyone of the believers],
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : None of you can make anyone turn away from Him (Allah),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah,

Verse : 163

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Except him who is to burn in Jahannam.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save him who is to burn in hell.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!

Verse : 164

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Of us there is none but hath a station assigned.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (the angels say,) “There is no one among us who does not have a known station,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : There is not one of us but hath his known position.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (Those ranged in ranks say): “Not one of us but has a place appointed

Verse : 165

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily we! we are ranged in ranks.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows (for the prayers as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We, surely We, are those who stand in rows
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service):

Verse : 166

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily we! we halloW.And they surely were wont to say:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, we (angels), indeed are those who glorify (Allâh’s Praises i.e. perform prayers).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We, surely We, are those who proclaim Allah’s purity.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “And we are verily those who declare (Allah’s) glory!”

Verse : 167

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Had we but an admonition as had the ancients.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And they (the pagans) used to say,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And indeed they used to say:
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And there were those who said

Verse : 168

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Surefy we would have been the bondmen of God sincere.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Had there been a scripture with us like that of the former people,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : If we had but a reminder from the men of old
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “If only we had had before us a Message from those of old.

Verse : 169

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Surefy we would have been the bondmen of God sincere.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allâh (true believers of Islâmic Monotheism)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We would have certainly been Allah’s chosen servants.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : We would be single-minded slaves of Allah.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “We should certainly have been servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!”

Verse : 170

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But (now that the Qur’ân has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Qur’ân and in Prophet Muhammad SAW , and all that he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then (once the divine book came to them,) they disbelieved in it. So, very soon they will come to know.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But (now that the Qur’an has come) they reject it: but soon will they know!

Verse : 171

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Our Word has already come to pass in favor of Our servants, the messengers
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to Our Servants sent (by Us)

Verse : 172

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : That verily they! they shall be made triumphant.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : That they verily would be made triumphant.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That) they are the ones who will be supported,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That they verily would be helped,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That they would certainly be assisted

Verse : 173

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily Our host! they are to be overcome.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And verily it is Our army (of chosen servants) that prevails.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that Our host, they verily would be the victors.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And that Our forces― they surely must conquer.

Verse : 174

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So turn thou aside from them for a season.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, withdraw your attention from them for some time.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So turn thou away from them for a little while,

Verse : 175

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But, watch them. They shall soon see (the reality).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And watch, for they will (soon) see.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

Verse : 176

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Our torment seek they to hasten on!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Are they asking for Our punishment to come sooner?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Would they hasten on Our doom?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on Our Punishment?

Verse : 177

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then when it descendeth Unto them face to, face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were Warned.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, when it will descend in their courtyard, then, evil will be the morning of those warned.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But when it descends into the open space before them, Evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)!

Verse : 178

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And turn thou aside from them for a season.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, withdraw your attention from them for some time,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Withdraw from them awhile
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So turn thou away from them for a little while

Verse : 179

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And see thou: they themselves shall presently see.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And watch and they shall see (the torment)!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And watch. They shall soon see (the reality).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And watch, for they will (soon) see.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

Verse : 180

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Pure is your Lord, the Lord of all might and honor, from what they describe
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Glory to thy Lord the Lord, of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!

Verse : 181

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And peace be Unto the sent ones.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And peace be on the Messengers!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Salam be on the messengers
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And peace be unto those sent (to warn).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And Peace on the Messengers!

Verse : 182

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And all praise Unto Allah the Lord of the worlds.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And all the praises and thanks are to Allâh, Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And praised is Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
