Verse : 001

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the dipersing winds that disperse.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By (the winds) that scatter dust.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : By those (winds) that scatter dust,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By those that winnow with a winnowing
Eng-Yusuf Ali : By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast;

Verse : 002

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the clouds bearing a load.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then those that bear load (of clouds),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And those that bear the burden (of the rain)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And those that lift and bear away heavy weights;

Verse : 003

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the ships that glide with ease.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then those that float with ease,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And those that glide with ease (upon the sea)
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And those that flow with ease and gentleness;

Verse : 004

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the angels who distribute the affair.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allâh’s) Command;¬
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then those who distribute things,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And those who distribute (blessings) by command,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And those that distribute and apportion by command―

Verse : 005

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds) is surely true.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Whatever you are being promised is surely true,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily that which ye are promised is true;

Verse : 006

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily the Requital is surely to befall.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Recompense (of deeds) is sure to happen.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! the judgment will indeed befall.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass.

Verse : 007

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the heaven full of paths.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By the heaven full of paths,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : By the sky, having paths,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By the heaven full of paths,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths,

Verse : 008

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily ye are in a divided opinion.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Certainly, you have different ideas (about Muhammad SAW and the Qur’ân).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : You are (involved) in a contradictory discussion.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant

Verse : 009

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Qur’ân) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment القضاء والقدر of Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Turned away from this (Qur’an) is the one who is turned away (totally from the truth.)
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded.

Verse : 010

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Perish the conjecturers
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Cursed be the liars,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Death upon those who make conjectures (against the true faith),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Accursed be the conjecturers
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Woe to the falsehood-mongers―

Verse : 011

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Those who are in heedlessness neglectful.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Those who are drowned in ignorance, forgetful!
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Who are careless in an abyss!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion:

Verse : 012

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They ask;”When will be the Day of Recompense?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They ask, “When shall be the Day of Recompense?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They ask: When is the Day of Judgment?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They ask “when will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?”

Verse : 013

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (punished i.e. burnt) over the Fire!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It will be) the Day when they will be heated on the Fire,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire!

Verse : 014

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Taste you your trial (punishment i.e. burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And it will be said to them,) “Taste (the punishment of) your mischief. This is what you have been asking to be brought sooner.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Taste ye your trial! this is what ye used to ask to be hastened!”

Verse : 015

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, the Muttaqûn (pious – see V.2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The God-fearing (on the other hand) will be in gardens and springs,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs,

Verse : 016

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe Unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinûn (good-doers – see V.2:112)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Receiving what their Lord will have given to them. Indeed, prior to this, they were good in their deeds.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life.

Verse : 017

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Little of the night they were wont to slumber.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allâh) and praying, with fear and hope].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They used to sleep little in the night;
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They used to sleep but little of the night,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night,

Verse : 018

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allâh) for forgiveness,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And in the hours before dawn they used to pray for forgiveness,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in the hours of early dawn they (were found) praying for Forgiveness;

Verse : 019

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in their properties there was the right of the Sa’il (the beggar who asks), and the Mahrûm (the poor who does not ask the others)[] ,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And in their wealth, there was a right for one who asks and for one who is deprived.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy), him who asked and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking).

Verse : 020

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In the earth, there are signs for those who (seek truth to) believe,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : On the earth are Signs for those of assured Faith,

Verse : 021

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And also in Your own selves. Behold ye not?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And in your own selves! So, do you not perceive?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As also in your own selves: will ye not then see?

Verse : 022

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in the heaven is Your provision and that which ye are promised.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And in the heavens, there is your sustenance and all that you have been promised.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised.

Verse : 023

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it (the Day of Recompense) is a reality, as sure as the fact that you (can) speak.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other.

Verse : 024

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hath there come Unto thee the story of Ibrahims honoured guests?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibril (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahîm (Abraham)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Has there come to you the story of the honoured guests of Ibrahim?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Hath the story of Abraham’s honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Has the story reached thee, of the honoured Guests of Abraham?

Verse : 025

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When they came in Unto him, and said:peace! he said: peace! – people unknown.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When they came in to him, and said, “Salâm, (peace be upon you)!” He answered;”Salâm, (peace be upon you ),” and said: “You are a people unknown to me,”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When they (the angels in human form) entered unto him and said, “We greet you with Salam .” He said, “Salam on you.” (And he said to himself,) “(They are) unknown people.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold they entered His presence, and said: “Peace!” He said “Peace!” (and thought) “these seem unusual people.”

Verse : 026

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he turned away privately Unto his household, and brought a calf fatted.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he turned to his household, and brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahîm (Abraham) was mainly cows].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then he slipped off to his home and fetched a fattened calf.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf.

Verse : 027

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And placed it before them, (saying): “Will you not eat?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So he presented it before them (to eat, but being angels, they refrained.) He said, “Would you not eat?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And placed it before them… He said “Will ye not Eat?”

Verse : 028

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he conceived a fear of them. They said:fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he conceived fear of them (when they ate not). They said: “Fear not.”[] And they gave him glad tidings of son, having knowledge (about Allâh and His religion of True Monotheism).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So he felt some fear in his heart. They said, “Be not scared.” And they gave him the good news of (the birth of) a knowledgeable boy.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said “Fear not” and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge.

Verse : 029

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: “A barren old woman!”[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So his wife came forward with a clamor, and slapped her own face and said, “(How can I have a child when I am) a barren old woman?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: “A barren old woman!”

Verse : 030

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They said: even so saith thine Lords Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They said: “Even so says your Lord.[] Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They said, “This is how your Lord has said. Surely, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They said “Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge.”

Verse : 031

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : [Ibrâhim (Abraham)] said: “Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He (Ibrahim) said (to the angels), “Then, what is your mission O messengers?”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (Abraham) said: “And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?”

Verse : 032

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They said: verily we are sent Unto a people, guilty.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They said: “We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allâh);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They said, “We are sent to a guilty people, (i.e. the people of Sodom)
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They said “We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin―

Verse : 033

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : To send down upon them stones of baked clay.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So that we may send down upon them stones of clay,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That we may send upon them stones of clay,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone),

Verse : 034

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Marked, from before thy Lord, for extravagant.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Marked by your Lord for the Musrifûn (polytheists, criminals, sinners — those who trespass Allâh’s set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Marked by your Lord for the transgressors.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds.”

Verse : 035

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thus We brought forth from there in who were believers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So We brought out from therein the believers.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, We let the believers who were there to come out (from danger),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then we brought forth such believers as were there.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there.

Verse : 036

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [of Lut (Lot) and his two daughters].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But We did not find in it any Muslims, except one house.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:

Verse : 037

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea[] in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left in this (event) a sign (of deterrence) for those who fear the painful punishment.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty.

Verse : 038

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him Unto Firawn with authority manifest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in Mûsa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir’aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (We left a similar sign) in (the story of) Musa, when We sent him to Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) with a clear proof.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in Moses (was another Sign): behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest.

Verse : 039

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But [Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: “A sorcerer, or a madman.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So he turned away along with his chiefs and said, “ (Musa is) a magician or a madman!”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said “A sorcerer, or one possessed!”

Verse : 040

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea for he was blameworthy.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So We seized him and his army, and cast them into the sea, as he was of culpable behaviour.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea: and his was the blame.

Verse : 041

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in `A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in ‘Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (a similar sign was left) in (the story of) ‘Ad, when We sent upon them the wind that was barren (from any benefit);
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in (the tribe of) A’ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in the `Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

Verse : 042

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It spared nothing it came upon, but rendered it like a stuff smashed by decay.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness.

Verse : 043

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And in Thamuds also was a lesson, when it was said Unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And in Thamûd (there is also a sign), when they were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (a similar sign was left) in (the story of) Thamud, when it was said to them, “Enjoy yourselves for a while.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And in the Thamud (was another Sign): behold they were told “Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!”

Verse : 044

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sâ’iqah[] overtook them while they were looking.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they rebelled against the command of your Lord; so the thunderbolt (of divine punishment) seized them, while they were looking on.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But they rebelled against their Lord’s decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But they insolently defied the command of their Lord: so the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on.

Verse : 045

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they were neither able to stand (before the punishment), nor could they defend themselves.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves.

Verse : 046

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (So were) the people of Nûh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (We have destroyed) the people of Nuh even before; indeed they were a sinful people.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So were the people of Noah before them: for they wickedly transgressed.

Verse : 047

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the heaven! We have built it with might, and verily We are powerful.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And the sky was built by Us with might; and indeed We are the expanders.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : With the power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of Space.

Verse : 048

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the earth! We have stretched it forth beneath; an excellent Spreader are We!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We have spread out the earth, how Excellent Spreader (thereof) are We!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And the earth was spread out by Us as a floor; so how well have We spread it out!
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And the earth have We laid out, how gracious is the Spreader (thereof)!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: how excellently We do spread out!

Verse : 049

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And of every thing We have created pairs, that haply ye may remember.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And of everything We have created pairs, that you may remember (the Grace of Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And from every thing We have created pairs of twos, so that you may heed.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And of everything We have created pairs: that ye may receive instruction.

Verse : 050

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Flee therefore Unto Allah; verily I am Unto you from Him a warner manifest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So flee to Allâh (from His Torment to His Mercy — Islâmic Monotheism), verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am a plain warner to you from Him.[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, flee to Allah. Indeed I am a plain warner sent by Him for you.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Therefor flee unto Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from him.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah: I am from Him a warner to you, clear and open!

Verse : 051

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And set not up another god with Allah; verily I am Unto you from Him a warner manifest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And set not up (or worship not) any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh [Glorified be He (Alone), Exalted above all that they associate as partners with Him]. Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am a plain warner to you from Him.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And do not make up any other god along with Allah. Indeed I am a plain warner sent by Him for you.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And set not any other god along with Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from Him.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And make not another an object of worship with Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you clear and open!

Verse : 052

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Likewise, there came not an apostle Unto those before them but they said: a magician or a madman!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Likewise, no Messenger came to those before them, but they said: “A sorcerer or a madman!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In similar way, no messenger came to those before them, but they said, “(He is) a magician or a madman.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Even so there came no messenger unto those before them but they said: A wizard or a madman!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Similarly, no messenger came to the Peoples before them, but they said (of him) in like manner “A sorcerer, or one possessed”!

Verse : 053

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Have they bequeathed its Unto each other! Nay! they are a people contumacious.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Have they (the people of the past) transmitted this saying to these (Quraish pagans)? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds (in disbelief)!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Have they handed down this (saying) to each other as a legacy? Rather they are a rebellious people.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Have they handed down (the saying) as an heirloom one unto another? Nay, but they are froward folk.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Is this the legacy they have transmitted, one to another? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds!

Verse : 054

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So turn away thou from them, not thou art blameworthy.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them (Quraish pagans) you are not blameworthy (as you have conveyed Allâh’s Message).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, turn away from them, for you are not blamed.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So withdraw from them (O Muhammad), for thou art in no wise blameworthy,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So turn away from them: not thine is the blame.

Verse : 055

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And admonish, for verily admonition profiteth the believers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And remind (by preaching the Qur’ân, O Muhammad SAW) for verily, the reminding profits the believers.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And warn, for warning profiteth believers.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But teach (thy Message): for teaching benefits the Believers.

Verse : 056

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And have not created the Jinn and mankind but that they should worship Me.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : I did not create the Jinns and the human beings except for the purpose that they should worship Me.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : I have only created jinns and men, that they may serve Me.

Verse : 057

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : I seek not any provision from them, nor I desire that they should feed Me.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : I do not want any sustenance from them, nor do I want them to feed Me.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : No sustenance do I require of them nor do I require that they should feed Me.

Verse : 058

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily Allah! He is the Provider, Owner of power, Firm.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, Allâh is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In fact, Allah is the All-Sustainer, Possessor of power, the Strong.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lord of unbreakable might.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For Allah is He Who gives (all) Sustenance― Lord of Power, Steadfast (forever).

Verse : 059

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So verily Unto those who do wrong there is a portion like Unto the portion of their fellows; wherefore let them not ask Me to hasten on.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a portion of torment like to the evil portion of torment (which came for) their likes (of old), so let them not ask Me to hasten on!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, those who did wrong will have their turn like the turn of their counterparts. So, they should not ask Me to hasten on.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! for those who (now) do wrong there is an evil day like unto the evil day (which came for) their likes (of old); so let them not ask Me to hasten on (that day).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For the wrongdoers, their portion is like unto the portion of their fellows (of earlier generations): then let them not ask Me to hasten (that portion)!

Verse : 060

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Woe, then, Unto those who disbelieve in their Day which they are promised.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, woe to those who disbelieve (in Allâh and His Oneness — Islâmic Monotheism) from their Day which they have been promised (for their punishment).[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Woe, then, to those who disbelieve because of the Day of theirs that they are promised (for punishment).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And woe unto those who disbelieve, from (that) their day which they are promised.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Woe, then, to the Unbelievers, on account of that day of theirs which they have been promised!
