Verse : 001
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the star when it setteth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : By the star when it goes down to set,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By the Star when it setteth,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : By the Star when it goes down―
Verse : 002
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Your fellow (the Holy Prophet (S.A.W)) has neither missed the way, nor did he deviate.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled,
Verse : 003
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he speaketh not of his own desire.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nor does he speak of (his own) desire.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He does not speak out of (his own) desire.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
Verse : 004
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : It is but a revelation revealed.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : It is only a Revelation revealed.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It is but revelation revealed (to him).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:
Verse : 005
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : One of mighty powers hath taught it him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He has been taught (this Qur’ân) by one mighty in power [Jibril (Gabriel)]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It is taught to him by one (angel) of strong faculties,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Which one of mighty powers hath taught him,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : He was taught by one mighty in Power,
Verse : 006
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : One strong of make. Then he stood straight.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : One free from any defect in body and mind, then he (Jibril — Gabriel in the real shap as created by Allah) rose and became stable.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The one of vigour. So he stood poised,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : One vigorous; and he grew clear to view
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Endued with Wisdom: For he appeared (in stately form)
Verse : 007
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : While he was on the uppermost horizon.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : While he [Jibril (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : While he was on the upper horizon.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When he was on the uppermost horizon.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
Verse : 008
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he [Jibril (Gabriel)] approached and came closer,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then he drew near, and came down,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then he drew nigh and came down
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then he approached and came closer,
Verse : 009
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And was at a distance of two bows’ length or (even) nearer,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So as he was at a distance like that of two bows (joined together), rather even nearer.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Till he was (distant) two bows’ length or even nearer,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;
Verse : 010
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thus He revealed Unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So (Allâh) revealed to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrail (Gabriel) A.S.] whatever He revealed.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Thus He (Allah) revealed to His slave what He revealed.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
Verse : 011
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : The heart lied not in that which he saw.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The (Prophet’s) heart lied not in what he (Muhammad SAW) saw.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The heart did not err in what he saw.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The (Prophet’s) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
Verse : 012
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath Seen?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi’râj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW to the seven heavens)]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Do you quarrel with him in what he sees?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
Verse : 013
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly he saw him at another descent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibril (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Indeed he saw him another time
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily he saw him yet another time
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For indeed he saw him at a second descent.
Verse : 014
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Nigh Unto the lote-tree at the boundary.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (a lote-tree of the utmost boundary over the seventh heaven beyond which none can pass).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : By Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (the lote-tree in the upper realm),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
Verse : 015
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Near it is the Paradise of Abode.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Near which there is Jannat-ul-Ma’wa (the Paradise of Abode),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Near it is the Garden of Abode.
Verse : 016
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When that covered the lote-tree which covered it.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When the lote-tree was covered by that which covered it.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
Verse : 017
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond the limit (ordained for it).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The eye neither went wrong, nor did exceed the limit.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (His) sight never swerved nor did it go wrong!
Verse : 018
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allâh).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He has indeed seen a part of the biggest signs of your Lord.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For truly did he see of the Signs of his Lord the Greatest!
Verse : 019
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-uzza:
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Have you then considered Al-Lât, and Al-‘Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs) .Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Have you ever considered about the (idols of) Lat and ‘Uzza,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-‘Uzza
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Have ye seen Lat an Uzza
Verse : 020
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And Manat the other third?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And Manât (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And about the other, the third (idol), namely, Manat,?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Manat, the third, the other?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And another the third (goddess) Manat?
Verse : 021
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : What!-Unto YOu the males and Unto Him the females?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Is it for you the males and for Him the females?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it that you have males and He (Allah) has females?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Are yours the males and His the females?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : What! for you the male sex and for Him the female?
Verse : 022
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : That indeed is a division unfair!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : That indeed is a division most unfair!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : If so, it is a bizarre division.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That indeed were an unfair division!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!
Verse : 023
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come Unto them from their Lord the guidance.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They are but names which you have named — you and your fathers — for which Allâh has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : These are nothing but names you and your fathers have invented; Allah has sent down no authority attached to them. They are following nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire, while guidance from their Lord has surely reached them.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : These are nothing but names which ye have devised― ye and your fathers― for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!― even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!
Verse : 024
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Or shall man have what he wishes?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it that man can get whatever he wishes?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Or shall man have what he coveteth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after?
Verse : 025
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Allahs is the last and the first.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But to Allâh belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : No,) because to Allah alone belongs the (good of) the Hereafter and the former life (of this world).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong.
Verse : 026
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And many soever are angels in the heavens whose intercession shall not avail at all save after Allah hath given leave for whomsoever He listeth and pleaseth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allâh has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : How many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession cannot benefit (any one) at all, but after Allah allows (it) for whomsoever He wills and pleases.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And how many angels are in the heavens whose intercession availeth naught save after Allah giveth leave to whom He chooseth and accepteth.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : How many so ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.
Verse : 027
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who believe not in the Hereafter name the angels with the names of females.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Those who do not believe in the Hereafter call the angels by names of females.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! it is those who disbelieve in the Hereafter who name the angels with the names of females.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.
Verse : 028
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they have no knowledge thereof; they follow but a vain opinion, and verily a vain opinion attaineth not aught of the truth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They do not have knowledge about it. They follow nothing but conjecture, and conjecture is of no avail in (the matter of) Truth.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and lo! a guess can never take the place of the truth.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.
Verse : 029
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore withdraw thou from him who turneth away from Our admonition and seeketh not but the life of the world.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Therefore withdraw (O Muhammad SAW) from him who turns away from Our Reminder (this Qur’ân) and desires nothing but the life of this world.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, turn away from him who turns away from Our advice, and seeks nothing but (pleasure of) the worldly life.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then withdraw (O Muhammad) from him who fleeth from Our remembrance and desireth but the life of the world.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.
Verse : 030
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : That is their highest point of knowledge. Verily thine Lord! it is He Who is the Best Knower of him who strayeth from His way, and He is the Best Knower of him who letteth himself be guided.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : That is what they could reach of knowledge. Verily, your Lord it is He Who knows best him who goes astray from His Path, and He knows best him who receives guidance.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : That is the limit of their access to knowledge. Indeed only your Lord knows well about the one who has gone astray from his way, and He knows well about the one who has adopted the right path.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Such is their sum of knowledge. Lo! thy Lord is best aware of him who strayeth, and He is best aware of him whom goeth right.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily thy Lord knoweth best those who stray from His path, and He knoweth best those who receive guidance.
Verse : 031
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And Allahs is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may recompense those who do evil for that which they worked and reward those who do good with good.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And to Allâh belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done (i.e. punish them in Hell), and reward those who do good, with what is best (i.e. Paradise).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : To Allah belongs whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth, so that He gives punishment to evildoers for what they did, and gives good reward to those who did good
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good with goodness.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth; so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.
Verse : 032
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They are those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations save the minor offences. Verily thy Lord is of vast for giveness: He is Best Knower of you when He produced you out Of the earth, and when ye were embryos in the bellies of your mothers. So justify not yourselves; He is the Best Knower of him who feareth Him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Those who avoid great sins (see the Qur’ân, Verses: 6:152,153) and Al-Fawâhish (illegal sexual intercourse) except the small faults, verily, your Lord is of vast forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers’ wombs. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows best him who fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him [i.e. those who are Al-Muttaqûn (pious – see V.2:2)].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Those who abstain from the major sins and from shameful acts, except minor involvements. Indeed your Lord is extensive in forgiveness. He knows you more than anyone else (from a time) when He created you from the earth and when you were embryos in the wombs of your mothers. So, do not claim purity (from faults) for your selves. He knows best who is God-fearing.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations, save the unwilled offences – (for them) lo! thy Lord is of vast mercy. He is best aware of you (from the time) when He created you from the earth, and when ye were hidden in the bellies of your mothers. Therefor ascribe not purity unto yourselves. He is best aware of him who wardeth off (evil).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, Only (falling into) small faults–verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, and when ye are hidden in your mother’s wombs Therefore justify not yourselves. He knows best who it is that guards against evil.
Verse : 033
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Observedest thou him who turned away?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Did you (O Muhammad SAW) observe him who turned away (from Islâm).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Did you see the one who turned away,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Seest thou one who turns back.
Verse : 034
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And gave little, and then stopped?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And gave a little, and stopped?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And gave a little, then was grudging?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?
Verse : 035
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Does he have knowledge of the Unseen whereby he sees (what he believes)?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?
Verse : 036
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Mûsa (Moses),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Has he not been told of what was (revealed) in the scriptures of Musa
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the books of Moses―
Verse : 037
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And of Ibrâhim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (Allâh ordered him to do or convey),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And of Ibrahim who fulfilled (his duties)?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Abraham who paid his debt:
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements―
Verse : 038
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : It was) that no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of the other,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That no laden one shall bear another’s load,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;
Verse : 039
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad) ,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that a man shall not deserve but (the reward of) his own effort,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
Verse : 040
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that his endeavour shall be presently observed.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that his deeds will be seen,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that his effort will soon be seen,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that his effort will be seen.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight;
Verse : 041
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompenseEng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then he will be recompensed for it in full,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete;
Verse : 042
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that Unto thy Lord is the goal.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that to your Lord (Allâh) is the End (Return of everything).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that to your Lord is the end (of every one),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that thy Lord, He is the goal;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That to thy Lord is the final Goal;
Verse : 043
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that it is He (Allâh) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He is the One who makes (one) laugh and makes (him) weep,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That it is He who Granteth Laughter and Tears;
Verse : 044
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that it is He (Allâh) Who causes death and gives life.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He is the One who gives death and gives life,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That it is He who Granteth Death and Life;
Verse : 045
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that He createth the pair, the male and the female.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that He (Allâh) creates the pairs, male and female.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He creates the pairs, male and female,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That He did create the pairs male and female.
Verse : 046
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : From seed when it is emitted.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : From Nutfah (drops of semen — male and female discharges) when it is emitted.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : From a sperm-drop when it is poured (into a womb),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : From a seed when lodged (in its place);
Verse : 047
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that upon Him is another bringing forth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that upon Him (Allâh) is another bringing forth (Resurrection).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that the second creation is undertaken by Him,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That He hath promised a Second Creation (raising of the Dead)
Verse : 048
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that it is He (Allâh) Who gives much or a little (of wealth and contentment)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He is the One who gives wealth and preserves (it),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction;
Verse : 049
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that He (Allâh) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He is the One who is the Lord of Sirius (the star worshipped by pagans),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star);
Verse : 050
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that He destroyed the former A-ad.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And that it is He (Allâh) Who destroyed the former ‘Ad (people),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And that He has destroyed the earlier ‘Ad,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A’ad,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient `Ad (people)
Verse : 051
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that Thamud! He left not.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And Thamûd (people). He spared none of them.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Thamud, so spared none,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And the Thamud, nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.
Verse : 052
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And the people of Nûh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allâh and His Messenger Nûh (Noah) A.S.]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (destroyed) the people of Nuh even earlier. Surely they were more unjust and more rebellious.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors.
Verse : 053
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the subverted cities He overthrew.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lut (Lot) was sent].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And He destroyed the overturned towns (of the people of Lut) also,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Al-Mu’tafikah He destroyed
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah),
Verse : 054
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then covered them with that which covered them.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So enveloped they were by that which enveloped.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So that there covered them that which did cover.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up.
Verse : 055
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Which then of thy Lords benefits wilt thou doubt?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then concerning which of your Lord’s bounties would you remain in doubt?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man), wilt thou dispute about?
Verse : 056
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : This is a warner of the warners of old.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : This (Muhammad SAW) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of oldEng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : This (Prophet) is a warner from the (genus of the) previous warners.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : This is a warner of the warners of old.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : This is a Warner of the (series of) Warners of old!
Verse : 057
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : There hath approached the approaching Hour.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The Day of Resurrection draws near,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The Imminent (Hour of Judgment) has approached.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The threatened Hour is nigh.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh:
Verse : 058
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : None, except Allah, can avert it.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : None besides Allâh can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : There is no one, beside Allah, to remove it.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : None beside Allah can disclose it.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare.
Verse : 059
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : At this discourse then marvel ye?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Qur’ân)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Do you then wonder at this discourse,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Marvel ye then at this statement,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Do ye then wonder at this recital?
Verse : 060
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And laugh and not weep?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And you laugh at it and weep not,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And laugh (at it), and not weep,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And laugh and not weep,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And will ye laugh and not weep―
Verse : 061
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And ye are behaving proudly.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing etc.).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : While you are engaged in vain play?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : While ye amuse yourselves?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Wasting your time in vanities?
Verse : 062
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So fall you down in prostration to Allâh, and worship Him (Alone).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Now, fall down in prostration and worship (Allah).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But fall ye down in prostration to Allah and adore (Him)!
