Verse : 001

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The Hour (of doom) has drawn near, and the moon has split asunder.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.

Verse : 002

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: “magic continous”
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: “This is continuous magic.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When these people see a sign, they turn away and say, “(This is) a transient magic.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say “This is (but) transient magic.”

Verse : 003

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They belied (the Verses of Allâh, this Qur’ân), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (good deeds will take their doers to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : They have rejected (the Truth) and followed their desires, while every matter has to settle (at some time).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.

Verse : 004

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly there hath come Unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur’ân) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And there has come to them as much news (of the earlier communities) as it is enough to deter,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them),

Verse : 005

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Perfect wisdom (this Qur’ân), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Containing) a perfect wisdom. But the warnings are of no avail (to them).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Mature wisdom― but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not.

Verse : 006

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the sum- moner Will summon mankind Unto a thing unpleasant.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Therefore, turn aside (O Prophet,) from them. (They will see the reality) on the day in which the caller will call (them) to a gruesome object.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Therefore, (O Prophet) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair.

Verse : 007

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : With their eyes humbled, they will come out of the graves like locusts spread all over,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They will come forth― their eyes humbled― from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad,

Verse : 008

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Hastening towards The caller, the disbelievers will say: “This is a hard Day.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Rushing quickly towards the caller. (On that Day) the disbelievers will say, “This is a hard day.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!― “Hard is this Day!” the Unbelievers will say.

Verse : 009

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman Nuh and said: ‘a madman; and moreover he was reproven.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The people of Nûh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, They rejected Our slave, and said: “A madman!” and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The people of Nuh denied (the truth) before them. So they rejected Our servant, and said, “(He is) a madman”, and he was (also) threatened (by them).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant and said “Here is one possessed!” and he was driven out.

Verse : 010

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thereupon he prayed Unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then he invoked his Lord (saying): “I have been overcome, so help (me)!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So he prayed to his Lord saying, “I am overpowered, so defend (me).”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then he called on his Lord: “I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!”

Verse : 011

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring forth profusely,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth.

Verse : 012

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We made the earth break forth with springs; SO that the water met for an affair already decreed.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We caused the spring to gush forth from the earth. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We caused the earth to gush forth as springs; so the water (of both kinds) met together for a destined event.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed.

Verse : 013

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We caused him (Nuh) to board that (ship) which had planks and nails,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre:

Verse : 014

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Which sailed under Our Eyes, as a reward for the one who was rejected (by the infidels).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : She floats under Our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)!

Verse : 015

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed, We have left this as a sign, Then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And We left it (the ship) as a sign. So, is there one to take lesson?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 016

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then how was My torment and My warnings?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning?

Verse : 017

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We have made the Quran easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We have indeed made the Qur’ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any one who will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Indeed We have made the Qur’an easy for seeking advice. So, is there one to heed to the advice?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in truth We have made the Qur’an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 018

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And there belied the A-ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : ‘Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hûd), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The people of) ‘Ad rejected (their prophet). So how was My torment and My warnings?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (The tribe of) A’ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The `Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was my Penalty and my Warning!

Verse : 019

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! We sent against them a raging Wind On a day of calamity continuous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We did send to them a furious wind in a day of continuous misfortune,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For We sent against them a furious wind on a Day of violent Disaster

Verse : 020

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Plucking people away, as if they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground).

Verse : 021

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So how dreodful have been My torment and My warning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So how was My torment and My warnings?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Yea how (terrible) was my Penalty and My Warning!

Verse : 022

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We have made the Quran easy for admonition; is therethen any one who would be admonished!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And We have indeed made the Qur’ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Indeed We have made the Qur’an easy for seeking advice. So, is there one to heed to the advice?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in truth We have made the Qur’an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 023

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the Thamud belied the warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Thamûd (people also) belied the warnings.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The people of) Thamud rejected the warners.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners.

Verse : 024

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And they said: a mere humanbeing from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they said: “A man, alone among us — shall we follow him? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So they said, “Shall we follow a single human being from among us? Then we will be in error and insanity.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For they said: “what! a man! a solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad!

Verse : 025

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Hath the Admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Sâlih A.S.] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Is it that the advice has been cast upon him alone out of all of us? No, but he is a bragging liar.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “Is it that the Message is sent to him of all people amongst us? Nay he is a liar, an insolent one!”

Verse : 026

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Tomorrow they will know who the bragging liar is!
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one!

Verse : 027

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verify We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Sâlih (Saleh) A.S.], and be patient!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch them (O Salih,) and keep patience,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For We will send the she camel by way of trial for them, So watch them (O Saleh) and possess thyself in patience!

Verse : 028

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And declare thou Unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. each one’s right to drink being established (by turns).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And tell them that water (of the well) is to be shared between them (and the she-camel), so as the right of having water shall be attended by each (alternatively).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: each one’s right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns).

Verse : 029

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then they called their man (to kill the she-camel,) so he undertook (the task) and killed (the she-camel).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her).

Verse : 030

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So how was My torment and My warnings?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!

Verse : 031

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We We sent upon them one shout, and they became as the stubble of a fold-builder.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, We sent against them a single Saîhah (torment – awful cry), and they became like the stubble of a fold-builder.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We sent upon them a single Cry, and they were like crushed leafs of a hedge-builder.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle.

Verse : 032

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We have made the Quran eary for admanirion: is there then any one who would be admonished.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed, We have made the Qur’ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Indeed We have made the Qur’an easy for seeking advice. So, is there one to heed to the advice?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in truth We have made the Qur’an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 033

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : The people of Lut belied the warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The people of Lut (Lot) belied the warnings.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : The people of Lut rejected the warners.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The folk of Lot rejected warnings.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The People of Lut rejected (his) Warning.

Verse : 034

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lut (Lot), them We saved in last hour of the night,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We sent upon them a rain of stones, except the family of Lut whom We saved in the last hours of night,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : We sent against them a violent tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut’s household: them We delivered by early Dawn―

Verse : 035

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : As a favour from us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : As a Favour from Us, Thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us)
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : As a grace from Us. This is how We reward the one who offers gratitude.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As a Grace from Us: Thus do We reward those who give thanks.

Verse : 036

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And he [Lut (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Seizure (punishment), but they did doubt the warnings!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And he (Lut) had certainly warned them of Our grasp, but they disputed the warnings.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning.

Verse : 037

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, (saying) “Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And they had even tried to tempt him against his guests (so that they may snatch them away for bad purpose,) but We blinded their eyes: “Now taste My torment and My warnings!”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) “Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning.”

Verse : 038

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And on the next morning, a lasting torment overtook them:
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them:

Verse : 039

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Taste then My torment and My warnings.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : “Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings.”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Now taste My torment and My warnings.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Now taste My punishment after My warnings!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : “So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning.”

Verse : 040

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We have made the Quran easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed, We have made the Qur’ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Indeed We have made the Qur’an easy for seeking advice. So, is there one to heed to the advice?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And in truth We have made the Qur’an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 041

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly Unto the household of Firawn came the warning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir’aun (Pharaoh) [through Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)].
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And the warners came to the family of Fir‘aun (Pharaoh).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh
Eng-Yusuf Ali : To the people of Pharaoh, too, aforetime came Warners (from Allah).

Verse : 042

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They belied Our signs everyone thereof; whereof We laid hold of them with the grip of our Mighty, Powerful.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (They) belied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable (Omnipotent).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But) they rejected all Our signs; so We seized thema seizure by One Mighty, Powerful.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One exalted in Power able to carry out His Will.

Verse : 043

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Are your infidels better than these? Or is there an immunity for you in the Writs?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nûh (Noah), Lut (Lot), Sâlih, and the people of Fir’aun (Pharaoh), who were destroyed)? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Are the disbelievers among you in a better position than all of the aforesaid (punished people), or do you have immunity (recorded) in the sacred books?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Are your Unbelievers, (O Quraish) better than they? or have ye an immunity in the Sacred Books?

Verse : 044

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Or is it that they say: we are a multitude prevailing!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Or say they: “We are a great multitude, victorious.?”
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Or do they say, “We are a large group, well-defended.”?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Or say they: We are a host victorious?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Or do they say: “We acting together can defend ourselves”?

Verse : 045

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Anon will their multitude be vanquished, and they will turn the back.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Soon this ‘large group’ shall be defeated, and all of them will turn their backs.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : The hosts will all be routed and will turn and flee.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Soon will their multitude be put to flight, and they will show their backs.

Verse : 046

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! the Hour is their appointed term, and the Hour shall be far more grievous and far more bitter.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Rather the Hour (of judgment) is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour is more calamitous and much more bitter.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but the Hour (of doom) is their appointed tryst, and the Hour will be more wretched and more bitter (than their earthly failure).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be Most grievous and most bitter.

Verse : 047

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the culprits shall be in great error and madness.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely the guilty ones are in error and madness.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! the guilty are in error and madness.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly those in sin are the ones straying in mind, and mad.

Verse : 048

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : On the Day whereon they shall be dragged into the Fire upon their faces, it shall be said Unto them: taste the touch of the Scorching.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : The Day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): “Taste you the touch of Hell!”[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : On the Day when they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, (it will be said to them,) “Taste the touch of Hell.”
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, (they will hear:) “Taste ye the touch of Hell!”

Verse : 049

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Veriiy everything! We have created it by a measure.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Verily, We have created every thing according to (Our) predestination.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! We have created every thing by measure.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Verily, all things have We created in proportion and measure.

Verse : 050

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And Our commandment shall be but one, as the twinkling of an eye.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And Our Commandment is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And (implementation of) Our command is no more than a single act like the twinkling of an eye.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Our commandment is but one (commandment), as the twinkling of an eye.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And Our command is but a single (Act) like the twinkling of an eye.

Verse : 051

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We have destroyed your likes; so is there any one who shall be admonished?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed, We have destroyed your likes, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : We have destroyed people like you; so, is there one to take lesson?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily We have destroyed your fellows; but is there any that remembereth?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And (oft) in the past, have We destroyed gangs like unto you: Then is there any that will receive admonition?

Verse : 052

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And everything they have wrought is in the Writs.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And every thing they have done is recorded in the books (of deeds).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And every thing they did is in the scriptures,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : All that they do is noted in (their) Books (of Deeds):

Verse : 053

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And everything, small and great, hath been written down.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And everything, small and big, is written down (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer: الإيمان بالقدر) (See the Qur’ân V.57:22 and its footnote).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And every thing, small and big, is written down.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And every small and great thing is recorded.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Every matter, small and great, is on record.

Verse : 054

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and among rivers.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, The Muttaqûn (the pious – see V.2:2), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Of course, the God-fearing will be in gardens and rivers,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers.

Verse : 055

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : In a good seat, near a Sovereign Omnipotent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allâh the one, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In a seat of Truth, near to the Omnipotent Sovereign.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : In an Assembly of Truth in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent.
