Verse : 001

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When the heaven shall be cleft,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When the heaven is cleft asunder.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When the sky will be cleft asunder,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When the heaven is cleft asunder,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : When the Sky is cleft asunder;

Verse : 002

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when the stars shall be scattered,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when the stars have fallen and scattered;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when the stars will disperse,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When the planets are dispersed,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : When the Stars are scattered;

Verse : 003

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when the seas are flowed out,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when the seas are burst forth;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when the seas will be burst forth,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When the seas are poured forth,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;

Verse : 004

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when the graves are ransacked,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when the graves are turned upside down (and bring out their contents).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when the graves will be overturned,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And the sepulchres are overturned,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And when the Graves are turned upside down―

Verse : 005

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Each soul shall know that which it sent afore and that which it left behind.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Then one will know what he sent ahead and what he left behind.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.

Verse : 006

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : O man! what hath beguiled thee concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : O man! What has deceived you about your Gracious Lord,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : O man! what has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?

Verse : 007

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned Thee
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Who created you, then perfected you, then brought you in due proportion?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;

Verse : 008

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : In whatsoever form He listed He constructed thee.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He composed you in whichever form He willed.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.

Verse : 009

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By no means! Aye, ye belie the the Requital.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay! But you deny the Ad-Din (i.e. the Day of Recompense).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Never! (i.e. one should never be heedless towards him.) But you deny the Requital,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay! but ye do Reject Right and Judgment!

Verse : 010

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verify there are for you guardians,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you[] ,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : While (appointed) over you there are watchers,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! there are above you guardians,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you―

Verse : 011

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Honourablel scribes.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Kirâman (Honourable) Kâtibîn writing down (your deeds)[] ,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Who are noble, writers (of the deeds),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Generous and recording,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Kind and honourable― writing down (your deeds):

Verse : 012

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : They know whatsoever ye do.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : They know all that you do.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Who know whatever you do.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Who know (all) that ye do.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : They know (and understand) all that ye do.

Verse : 013

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the pious shall be in Delight.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, the Abrâr (pious and righteous) will be in Delight (Paradise);
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely the righteous will be in bliss,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : As for the Righteous, they will be in Bliss;

Verse : 014

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And verily the ungodly shall be in a Scorch.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, the Fujjâr (the wicked, disbelievers, polytheists sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And the sinners in Hell,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And the Wicked― they will be in the Fire,

Verse : 015

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Roasted they shall be therein on the Day of Requital.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Therein they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : In which they will enter on the Day of Requital,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment.

Verse : 016

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And thence they shall not be allowed to be absent.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And they (Al-Fujjâr) will not be absent therefrom.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And they will not (be able to) keep away from it.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And will not be absent thence.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And they will not be Able to keep away therefrom.

Verse : 017

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And what shall make thee know whatsoever the Day of Requital is?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And what may let you know what the Day of Requital is?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

Verse : 018

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Again, what shall make thee know whatsoever the Day of Requital is?
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Again, what may let you know what the Day of Requital is?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Again what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

Verse : 019

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : It is a Day whereon no soul shall own aught of power for any soul; and the command on that Day will be Allahs.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : (It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allâh.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : A Day when no one will have power to do any thing for another! And command, on that Day, will belong to Allah (alone). [QETafseerComment]Eng-Pickthal-Audio : A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah’s.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: for the Command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
