Verse : 001
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : When the heaven is sundered.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : When the heaven is split asunder,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : When the sky will split apart,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : When the heaven is split asunder
Eng-Yusuf Ali : When the Sky is rent asunder,
Verse : 002
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And listens to and obeys its Lord — and it must do so;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And will listen to (the command of) its Lord, and it ought to,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And attentive to her Lord in fear,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord–and it must needs (do so)–
Verse : 003
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And when the earth shall be stretched forth.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when the earth is stretched forth,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when the earth will be stretched (to give room to more people),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And when the earth is spread out
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And when the Earth is flattened out
Verse : 004
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And has cast out all that was in it and become empty,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And it will throw up whatever it contains, and will become empty,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty
Verse : 005
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And listens to and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And will listen to (the command of) its Lord, and it ought to, (then man will see the consequences of his deeds.)
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And attentive to her Lord in fear!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord–and it must needs (do so)–(then will come Home the full Reality).
Verse : 006
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, and you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : O man, you have to work hard constantly to reach your Lord, and then you have to meet Him.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : O thou man! verily thou art ever toiling on towards the Lord― painfully toiling but thou shalt meet Him.
Verse : 007
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, as for him whose book (of deeds) will be given to him in his right hand,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Then whoso is given his account in his right hand
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Then he who is given his Record in his Right hand,
Verse : 008
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He surely will receive an easy reckoning,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He will be called to account in an easy manner,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He truly will receive an easy reckoning
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,
Verse : 009
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he shall return Unto his people joyfully.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And will return to his family in joy!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And he will go back to his people joyfully.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And will return unto his folk in joy.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
Verse : 010
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : As for the one whose book (of deeds) will be given to him from his backside,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : But whoso is given his account behind his back,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But he who is given his Record behind his back―
Verse : 011
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : He shall presently call for death,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : He will invoke (for his) destruction,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He will pray for death,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He surely will invoke destruction
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Soon will he cry for Perdition,
Verse : 012
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he shall roast into a Blaze.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and be made to taste its burning.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And will enter the blazing fire.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And be thrown to scorching fire.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And he will enter a Blazing Fire.
Verse : 013
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he was among his people joyous.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he was among his people in joy!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He had been joyful among his people (in the world).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He verily lived joyous with his folk,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!
Verse : 014
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he imagined that he would not be back.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : He thought he would never revert (to Allah).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
Verse : 015
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : No! Indeed his Lord was watchful over him.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nay nay! For his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!
Verse : 016
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, I swear by the twilight (after sunset),
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;
Verse : 017
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And by the night and that which it driveth together,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And by the night and what it envelops,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The Night and its Homing;
Verse : 018
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And by the moon when she becometh full.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And by the moon when it is at the full,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And by the moon when it develops at the full,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And by the moon when she is at the full,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And the Moon in her Fullness;
Verse : 019
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : You shall certainly ascend from stage to stage.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.
Verse : 020
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : What aileth them then, that they believe not,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : What is the matter with them, that they believe not?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, what is wrong with them that they do not believe,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : What aileth them, then, that they believe not
Eng-Yusuf Ali : What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?―
Verse : 021
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And that, when the Quran is read Unto them, they prostrate not them-selves!
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And when the Qur’ân is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not offer sajdah (prostration)?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And, when the Qur’an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And when the Qur’an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,
Verse : 022
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Yea those who disbelieve belie.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Nay, those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Qur’ân and Islâmic Monotheism, etc.).Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Rather, those who disbelieve deny (the truth).
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
Verse : 023
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And Allâh knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And Allah is most aware of what they store.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But Allah has full Knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts).
Verse : 024
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore announce thou Unto them a torment afflictive.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : So announce to them a painful torment.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : So, give him the ‘good news’ of a painful punishment,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : So give them tidings of a painful doom,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
Verse : 025
Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : But those who believed and did righteous deeds will have a reward that will never be interrupted.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: for them is a Reward that will never fail.
