Verse : 001

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : By the morning brightness,
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By the forenoon (after);[]Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : I swear by the forenoon,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : By the morning hours
Eng-Yusuf Ali : By the Glorious Morning Light.

Verse : 002

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : by the night, when it darkens.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : By the night when it darkens (and stands still).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And by the night when it becomes peaceful,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And by the night when it is stillest,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And by the Night when it is still―

Verse : 003

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Thy Lord has not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Your Lord (O Muhammad (SAW)) has neither forsaken you nor hates you.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Your Lord (O Prophet,) has neither forsaken you, nor has become displeased.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : The Guardian-Lord Hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.

Verse : 004

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And the Hereafter is indeed better unto thee than the present life.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Surely the Hereafter is much better for you than the present life.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.

Verse : 005

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And soon shall thy Lord give unto thee so that thou shalt be well-pleased.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And verily, your Lord will give you (all good) so that you shall be well-pleased.
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And of course, your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.

Verse : 006

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Did he not find thee an orphan? so He sheltered thee.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Did He not find you (O Muhammad (SAW)) an orphan and gave you a refuge?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Did He not find you an orphan, and give you shelter?
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?

Verse : 007

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And He found thee wandering, so He guided thee.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And He found you unaware (of the Qur’ân, its legal laws, and Prophethood) and guided you?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And He found you unaware of the way (the Shari‘ah ), then He guided you.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.

Verse : 008

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : And he found thee destitute, so He enriched thee.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And He found you poor, and made you rich (selfsufficient with selfcontentment)?
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And He found you in need, then made you need-free.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)?
Eng-Yusuf Ali : And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.

Verse : 009

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore as to the orphan, be not thou overbearing unto him.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression,
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : Therefore, as for orphan, do not oppress him,
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Therefor the orphan oppress not,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Therefore treat not the orphan with harshness;

Verse : 010

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : and as to the beggar, chide him not;
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And repulse not the beggar;
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And as for the beggar, do not scold him.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Therefor the beggar drive not away,
Eng-Yusuf Ali : Nor repulse the petitioner (Unheard);

Verse : 011

Eng-Abdul Daryabadi : and as to the favours of thy Lord, discourse thou thereof.
Eng-Dr. Mohsin : And proclaim the Grace of your Lord (i.e. the Prophethood and all other Graces).
Eng-Mufti-Taqi-Usmani-Audio : And about the bounty of your Lord, do talk.
Eng-Pickthal-Audio : Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.
Eng-Yusuf Ali : But the Bounty of thy Lord rehearse and proclaim!
